4/24 Ride (Will there be a ride leader?)

April 22nd, 2010

Life is Great when you're ROLLING!

Life is Great when you're ROLLING!

Your usual ride leader is in Georgia visiting his out-laws, I mean in-laws. I’m not sure who will be showing up this Sat, 4/24, to lead the ride. I will try to post the 50-Mile route cue sheet for any ambitious takers.

Until we meet again, keep the rubber-side down to avoid a big frown!

4/17 Ride Still ON!!

Ready to ROLL!!

Ready to ROLL!!

Looks like we can have a VERY CLOUDY but mostly DRY ride today!

See you at 8:00 at Griffin to ride either 35 or 50 miles, depending on weather later on in the morning.

Are you ready for FREE Subway, Part Two?
Come join our MS Traing crew
This Saturday, 4/17, as we hope to do
A 50-Mile ride, although it is quite true
That rain is predicted in the weather preview.
I hate to say that a wet weekend is overdue,
But if the rain is bad, we’ll have to redo
Our Subway lunch when skies are blue.
If the rain stays away, I hope to see you!

You can get a free lunch from Subway
Thanks to the National MS SocietAY.
Free Lunch?! I’m shouting HIP HIP HOORAY!!

1st MS Training Ride of 2010 a success!!

March 7th, 2010

Happy BikersWith beautiful, balmy temp’s in the upper 30’s to start, over two dozen bikers showed up for our first MS Training Ride of the year! I actually had non-believers email me a couple of weeks ago saying that it’d be too cold or too snowy to ride. HA!! They didn’t have faith that the first MS Training Ride email I send out every year is an actual harbinger of spring. They’ve learned their lesson!

LAST MS TRAINING RIDE: 50 on 5/30

One last ride this Saturday
To get your legs ready for Tour Day.
It’s true, and may be to your dismay,
That my Training emails will be going away.
Or perhaps you’re thinkin’ Hip Hip Hooray!

I don’t mind, cuz I’ll be feelin’ okay
After I ride 50 miles for the last time this May.
8am is when wheels will start to roll away
From Rite Aid to ride the east-of-the-river way.

Who needs Tour de France for a true biking display?
Sure, they might bake a better cheese soufflé,
And no doubt they make a darn good Cabernet.
But you don’t need to “Parlez vous Francais”
Cuz we got the MS Bike Tour in the U.S.A.!

And at the risk of sounding like a cliché,
Riding the MS Bike Tour is a great way
To help those who struggle every day
And are not able to bike and walk and play.

See you at the Tour on June’s first Sunday!

5/23 MS Training Ride: And Then There Were TWO…

Rolling Maag Wheels

Rolling Maag Wheels

Here we are…almost done with the MS Training Rides.
When we felt we had no more to give, we dug down deep inside.
We started out with THIRTEEN and now we’re down to TWO.
The road was long and tough at times, but our legs and hearts both grew.

The MS Century on June 7 is now well within our reach.
This Saturday: 30 miles west of the river and 50 on the east.
That’s a total of 80 miles which will help us be well-prepared.
Then Memorial Day food and beer: our muscles will be repaired!

As usual, 8am is when we’ll depart for the routes we charted.
We’ll first do a loop of 50 and then rest from where we started.
80 miles will take a while so come with food and Gatorade.
We’ll start and rest and get more food from the pharmacy called Rite Aid.

Non-rhyming recap:
-MS Training ride to become familiar with the parts of the 100-Mile MS Tour on the east side of the CT River.
-Meet at Rite Aid Pharmacy in East Windsor (directions below).
-We’ll do a loop of 50 on the east side.
-Then we’ll rest at Rite Aid and refill food and beverages from Geissler’s.
-And then we’ll cross the river, do 30 more on the west side, and come back to finish at Rite Aid.

Directions to Rite Aid Pharmacy 74 Bridge St, East Windsor
-Take Rt 91N to exit 45.
-Turn LEFT at end of exit onto Bridge St/Rt 140.
-Rite Aid is a half mile up on the right side.
